The critically-acclaimed dark fantasy tactical RPG King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on February 22, 2024, bringing its unique blend of turn-based combat and RPG elements to console gamers for the first time.
In this reimagining of the Arthurian mythos, players take on the role of Sir Mordred, Arthur’s nemesis, on a quest to defeat the legendary king and deliver his grim vision of Camelot.
The console version will include enhanced graphics options, local PvP multiplayer, immersive haptic feedback on PS5 controllers, and achievements/trophies to unlock.
Dark Fantasy Setting and Tactical Gameplay
Set in a gritty dark fantasy world, King Arthur places players in command of a small team of heroes who must engage in challenging turn-based tactical battles against a variety of mystical foes. The game features a morality system, where choices shape Sir Mordred’s corruption and the progression of companions like Lancelot, Morgan Le Fay, and others.
Combat requires thoughtful positioning and use of terrain, as well as managing action points, strengths and weaknesses, status effects, and more. In addition to story missions, players can explore over 50 unique locations throughout the realm, taking on side quests and challenging optional bosses.
Gather Your Knights of the Round Table
As you play, you’ll gradually gather loyal knights to form your own Round Table and expand your forces. Customize and spec out your knights with classes, gear, and special abilities tailored to your playstyle. Send knights out on expeditions to locate artifacts and treasures. Manage your kingdom by constructing buildings, training troops, researching technologies, and making strategic preparations for the coming war against Arthur.
Console Enhancements
The console editions of King Arthur aim to provide the definitive experience. PlayStation 5 players can experience the clash of swords and spells through immersive haptic feedback from the DualSense controller. Faster loading times will keep the action moving swiftly. And stunning visuals, up to 4K resolution and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, will make the dark fantasy world come to life.
In addition to the main campaign, multiplayer support for local PvP allows players to test their tactical skills against friends. Unlock achievements on Xbox or trophies on PlayStation as you master the game’s challenges. Originally funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020, the game has received overwhelmingly positive reviews on PC for its fresh take on the legends of King Arthur.
