Apex Legends and FINAL FANTASY VII are crossing over in an exciting, first-of-its-kind collaboration event bringing elements of the iconic RPG into the popular battle royale game. Running from January 9th through the 30th, the Apex Legends & FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Event adds new content and cosmetics celebrating the upcoming release of FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH.
Wield the Legendary Buster Sword in New FFVII Takeover Mode
The headlining addition in this crossover event is the new limited-time Takeover mode, FINAL FANTASY VII Takeover. This fast-paced mode replaces unranked battle royale and aptly brings part of Midgar into the Arena.
Players can wield the legendary Buster Sword R2R5 in matches, complete with Limit Break abilities straight from Cloud Strife’s arsenal. Charge up limit breaks to unleash powerful attacks, granting buffs and dealing high damage. The Buster Sword also has unique gameplay attributes like throwing the massive blade as a ranged attack.
Enhance Weapons with Materia Hop-Ups
Also introduced in Takeover are Materia Hop-Ups, which can be found around the Arena. Equipping these to your weapons provides enhancements reminiscent of Materia from FINAL FANTASY VII. Effects include dealing lightning damage, healing teammates, increasing critical hit rate, summoning for an attack, and a Materia that reveals the location of nearby enemies.
Themed Cosmetics and FFVII-Inspired Legend Skins
Along with the gameplay additions, the Apex Legends x FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH event introduces themed cosmetic items to collect. Event packs give players a chance to unlock skins like the Mythic Buster Sword R5 Melee. Those who collect all 24 event items can unlock the ultra-rare One-Winged Angel Death Box skin.
Several Legends receive FINAL FANTASY VII-inspired outfit skins, including Wattson, Crypto, and Wraith. Players can also purchase skins resembling iconic FFVII characters like Cloud, Tifa, and Sephiroth in the shop for Legends like Horizon, Fuse, and Revenant.
Twitch Drops, Gil Event Currency, and More
Apex Coins aren’t the only currency up for grabs in this event. Players can earn Gil by completing challenges, which can then be used to purchase limited-time cosmetics. The event also offers Twitch Drops by watching select streamers from January 12th-30th.
The Apex Legends devs have gone all-out bringing two iconic titles together for this first-ever crossover. Jump into the Arena from January 9th-30th to experience the action and collect exclusive FINAL FANTASY VII-themed loot.
